Okay, I'm Tempted
In San Francisco, where I live, this would cost you a minimum of seven figures - or more, depending on the location. You can have this one, though - and a 20 minute drive time (if I recall correctly) to the Chicago Loop - for $213,000. Click the image for more. It's being handled by Joe Kunkel of Jetset Modern, a fave of this blog. Tell him Bill Quick sent you.

As much as I'd love to own a pile of lumber and some linoleum in Illinois, I think I'll have to stick to the San Francisco Bay Area. Especially in a market like this... Has the bank foreclosed yet?

I can just imagine myself sitting in one of those chairs, listening to Ken Nordine's Word Jazz on the Hi-Fi. It's so cool.

I've lived in both Chicago and San Francisco (SF is where I make my home today). In terms of urban amenities, I think Chicago comes out ahead. Weather is, of course, a problem, but there is also something attractive about putting your feet up in front of a toasty warm fire while the snow swirls outside.

My wife and I were contemplating moving to Chicago. This home could tip the scales! Also, day games at Wrigley Field, drinking Old Style in the Spring sunshine... great town!

Evan, I used to live about three blocks from Wrigley. And I worked nights, so my days were free to weep over the Cubbies. But what a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon!

Evan, stick to the south bay. Manhattan Beach is beautiful. Tell Michelle Sexton I said hello, I think she works in your office.
