The Bipartisan National Debt

$7,060,259,674,497.51–Federal Debt Up $7 Trillion Under Obama | CNS News – The total federal debt of the U.S. government has now increased more than $7 trillion during the slightly more than five and a half years Barack Obama has been president.

That is more than the debt increased under all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined, and it is more debt than was accumulated in the first 227 years of this nation’s existence–from 1776 through 2003.

Note how the books are being cooked here by the Conservative News Service to make President George W. Bush look good.  The truth is that under George W. Bush the national debt also increased more than under all the U.S. Presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined.

So…if you say you’re appalled by the increase in the national debt under Barack Obama, unless you were also appalled by the increase under GWB, you are standing on really shaky ground.

But hey:  Always vote for the Republican, because they’re not quite as awful.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
