Election 2014: Illinois Governor – Rasmussen Reports™

Republican challenger Bruce Rauner has edged further ahead in his battle with Democratic incumbent Pat Quinn for the governorship of Illinois.

The latest Rasmussen Report telephone survey of Likely Illinois Voters finds Rauner with a five-point lead – 44% to 39% – over Quinn. Seven percent (7%) like some other candidate in the race, and 10% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

In Rasmussen Reports’ first look at the race in mid-April, Rauner was just barely ahead 43% to 40%.

Illinois now moves from a Toss-Up to Leans Republican on the Rasmussen Reports 2014 Gubernatorial Scorecard.

I thought this was sort of interesting, but my hunch is that the race will end up being close enough to steal, and so the Democrats will steal it.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. Occasionally, Republicans win the governor’s office in godawful Illinois.

They’re just as corrupt and just as likely to end up in jail as the Democrats, though.

Ok, maybe not as bad as the Democrats. But still plenty bad. 4 of the last 7 governors went to prison. 3 D’s and one R.
