No, Our Government No Longer Works For Us – And It Hasn’t For a Hundred Years

kennycan comments (Which set me off on yet another rant):

She works for us.

That’s what they want you to believe, but it’s no longer true, and hasn’t been for a good while.

She works for the people who pay her and keep her in power – that is, big money interests capable of giving her what she needs to gull the tools who think she works for them.

And why should she think she works for us? Do we behave as any intelligent, respectable employer would? Do we watch our employees, make sure they do their jobs, and punish or fire them when they screw up?

Of course we don’t. We’re “rationally ignorant.” We’re too busy to keep track of the people who control our lives, and we believe that our votes don’t make a difference.

We’re lousy bosses. No wonder our employees have gone rogue, completely out of control, and are stealing the business right our from under us.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
