Syria: 4 killed, 9 wounded in Israeli airstrikes

The director of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdurrahman, said the Israeli strikes destroyed two tanks, two artillery batteries and the headquarters of Syria’s 90th brigade.

The Observatory collects its information through a network of activists inside Syria.

The Israeli military said “direct hits were confirmed” on the targets, which were located near the site of Sunday’s violence in the Golan Heights and included a regional military command center and unspecified “launching positions.”

Israel thinks Hizb’Allah might be involved.  That means Iran stirring shit.

Local irony:  The “Israeli boy” killed was “Mohammed Krakra, 14, of the Arab village of Arabeh in northern Israel.”

Note that the Isreali retaliatory strike is big AP news. The original Syrian attack that killed an innocent Arab Israeli resident was not.

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. “[I]n a departure from previous incidents when Israeli warplanes struck targets in Syria, the [Syrian] government did not vow retaliation.”

Snort, I’ll bet. Sounds like the gloves are coming off, and the Syrian government probably isn’t so stupid it doesn’t know what happens when Arabs pick fights with the Israelis.
