Notre Dame Denies Pro-Marriage Club Official Status

The University of Notre Dame has denied official recognition to a student club that supports traditional marriage. On April 30, the university’s Club Coordination Council (CCC) voted not to approve the application of Students for Child-Oriented Policy (SCOP) for official club status.

SCOP’s Facebook page identifies it as “a group of undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Notre Dame who are focused on the debate about marriage taking place in Indiana.”

I can’t imagine something like this happening at Notre Dame during the years when I was growing up in Indiana.    And in fact I’m having a little trouble imagining it happening today, as far as that goes.

Check out my new bestseller, Lightning Fall: A Novel of Disaster. Glenn Reynolds at says: “Bill Quick has authored a terrific thriller that is also an all too plausible warning. Highly recommended!” Available in Kindle e-book or trade paperback formats.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. This is what I’ve seen coming for a while, and not just the gay marriage debate. It’s about “wrong thinking” not only being punished, but not being allowed. Funny thing, though: the people engaged in this suppression seem to feel that no one will ever push back-hard-against this crap. Maybe they look at the sheeple in the UK and figure that Americans will bend over and politely accept this. I could be wrong about this, but I don’t believe that to be the case. In fact, actions such as this will only hasten the arrival of the burning times. It’s not going to be pretty.
