Why On Earth Would You Hobbits Fear Me?

Sharp as a Marble – Quote of the day

Talking about McCain’s senile moment where he got all angry about Rand Paul stepping in his yard, telling people that they should fear their government:

“American citizens have nothing to fear from their government.”

To which was replied the QotD:

Wasn’t (isn’t) the entire point of the Constitution is that we do?

McCain regards himself as the government, in the same way that Louis XV considered himself France. This given, and since McCain no doubt considers that he does nothing unless it is for our own good, he sees no reason that anybody should fear him, or the government embodied in him.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
