Conyers accepts responsibility for possible ethics violations

Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) has “accepted responsibility” for possibly violating House rules by requiring his official staff to perform campaign-related work, according to a statement quietly released by the House ethics committee late Friday evening.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. This is not of recent vintage. I know people in his office and who have connections with people in his office and it’s been going on for a long time. On the other hand, why should he worry? He has no real opposition and in Detroit we don’t let minor factors like felony convictions keep us from re-electing our congressmen.

I regret to say he is my congressman–well, he represents my district. I am proud to say, however, that I’ve never voted for him. I have even voted Republican a couple of times but where possible I’ve voted Natural Law, Libertarian, or even someone from a group called Workers Against Concessions.

Didn’t do any good; he continues to roll up huge majorities.

  2. Poor John Conyers: re-elected what, 14 times, from an 80% Democrat Detroit district. And HE got caught?!?!

Does this mean that the other 534 Reps and Sens gotta start being more careful in how they use billions of dollars (taken from our wallets) to influenece their re-elections?

    Oh, the HUMANITY!

Each and every one of them has at least nibbled at that trillion dollar trough.

Think Jack Murtha will be next to have an epiphany?
