About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. So how do we get the kids to channel their anger against the nanny state without personalizing it against Moochelle? The unfreedom of choice is not a single person issue. Get rid of Moochelle and someone else “progressive” will take her place. Or not. Once these government programs are in place this is school lunch forever, administered by bureaucrats and with absolutely no one person to present an appeal because hereafter no one will be “responsible”. Who do you call who doesn’t say “I’m sorry but the lunch menu offered by the [insert alphabet acronym] is not determined by me and I can’t point you to the person who does determine the lunch menu. Let me check. Please hold”. Cue Milli Vanilli hold music.

Seriously, how do we get young people to realize that biggov is the problem, not a single cog in the wheel?

The biggest problem of our demonization of Carter has been that Carter was just a cog, albeit a big cog, in the Progressive Socialist Collectivist disaster. It’s the same with Obama and Moochelle. They are just the latest symptom of a much larger disease. Get rid of these symptoms without curing the disease we are going to deprive this school generation of an important lesson.

They wouldn’t turn out differently, because they can’t. What can’t go on, won’t.

Every Progressive, Socialist, Communist, Fascist, Collectivist always uses the excuse that if we had the right people in charge things would have turned out different.

How many time do we need to bang our “collective” head against the wall before we learn this lesson. Well, we have a Turning Point generation ripe for conversion here and how do we get to them? We need a young, modern day Thomas Paine here.

    • Seriously, how do we get young people to realize that biggov is the problem, not a single cog in the wheel?

You start by saying just that, then following with “now I know that sounds paranoid, but follow me here” and then the paragraph before that. You point out numerous examples through history.

You can use media as part of it. Remember _Brazil_? Most of those people weren’t evil, at least not deliberately. They were just more concerned with protecting the system than with protecting _people_.

We may not be able to, at least not from an educational perspective.

Because, for the most part, they like Big.Gov. They think it should be “helping the poor.” They think it should be “getting them jobs.” They think it should be “helping with their education expenses.” They think it should be “fighting global warming.” They think it should be “making life fair.” They think that the lunch should be, can be, and often is free.

Once your culture has become this corrupt there may be no saving it via reason and education. It may take a harsher classroom – the one down the hall with the sign “COLLAPSE” on it, where the teachers are the Gods of the Copybook Headings.
