The House Leadership’s Border-Bill Woes | National Review Online

“The House leadership doesn’t want to put a bunch of members on the record as being hostile to a form of amnesty, when that might have to be part of a future compromise immigration bill,” one member told me.

The failure of the border-security bill — so far — is yet more evidence that the administration and congressional leadership are so little trusted by House rank-and-file to act in good faith when it comes to immigration that the default position now is that nothing will be done.

Why on earth would conservaties distrust GOP leadership on this matter?  Just because that leadership has done everything it its power to pass scamnesty, and makes no bones about continuing to do so in the future.

We don’t need new bills.  We need new leadership willing to enforce the immigration laws we already have.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
