Iowan Boy Scouts Allegedly Harassed by Border Patrol at the Canadian Border into Alaska | National Review Online

im Fox, leader of the Mid-Iowa Boy Scout Troop 111, told an Iowa television station one of his scouts took a photo of a Border Patrol official and agents immediately leapt into action. “The agent immediately confiscated his camera, informed him he would be arrested, fined possibly $10,000 and 10 years in prison,” he said. Fox alleges one agent drew his pistol and pointed it a scout’s head after the scout attempted to retrieve luggage from the top of the van in which the scouts were traveling.

A statement obtained from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency denied that the agent had pulled a gun on the Iowan Boy Scout. “CBP’s review of this group’s inspection, including video footage review, indicates that our officer did not un-holster or handle his weapon as stated in the allegation,” the statement reads. “The review revealed nothing out of the ordinary. We have reached out to the Boy Scout troop for additional information in reference to the allegation. The video footage has been referred to CBP Internal Affairs for further review.”

Uh huh.  I believe every damned word the scouts have to say about this.  Funny – apparently the Border thugs have video “to review,” but American citizens aren’t permitted to make their own videos of these “public servants” doing their jobs in public.

Why do I believe the scouts?  Because every damned policing organization in America, from the local to the federal, is imbued with this police-state thug mentality that says cops are permitted to do anything they want to, as long as they avoid getting caught, and that the citizens who pay their salaries are the enemy.

Termination, jail time, and loss of pensions.  For starters.

You know what those scouts should have done?  Claimed to be Honduran refugees.

You know, when I was a lot younger and more naive, I thought there was at least a chance that cops and soldiers would not fire on American people.

Now, I think they not only would do so in a heartbeat, they might not even need to be ordered to do so.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

I resemble those remarks… Although, I don’t think we were naive so much as it was less likely. However, 5 years or so back it was simply naivety for me. I still thought it impossible of the military at least. I’m no longer certain, but I am certain about the cops. They will.
