Paul Ryan, 2016? « Hot Air

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), the Republican Party’s bookish former vice presidential nominee, is starting to look like a candidate for the presidency in 2016.

In August, Ryan will publish a book with a distinctly campaign-themed title, The Way Forward. On Tuesday, the Federal Election Commission approved of a nationwide book tour sponsored by Ryan’s publisher and the Political Action Committee the Wisconsin congressman founded, Prosperity Action PAC.

Yep, yep, the Gentry strategy (Hot Gas is a nest of Gentry conventional wisdom).  Get as many candidates running for the GOP 2016 nomination as possible.  Handle opponents to the Gentry’s designated candidate by tried and true tactics of divide and conquer.  Wash, rinse, and repeat as long as you can inveigle the suckers into playing.

My early hunch:  The Gentry will unite behind stealth-scamnesty guy Rick Perry.  And they’ll do everything they can to keep conservatives from uniting behind Ted Cruz.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
