Beck: Using these kids at the border for political purposes is wrong, shameful, un-American, and un-Christian « Hot Air

You’d need to see wide public opinion turn so sour on illegal immigration, notwithstanding Latino support for it, that even Democrats would start to feel pressure to pander to border hawks with a security-only bill rather than to Latinos with comprehensive reform. We’re not even close to being there yet. But after another 300,000 or 500,000 illegals from Central America have come across, who knows?

Why would that relatively small number make a difference, in the face of the twenty million or so illegals who are already here?

Maybe when all the legal Hispanics and Blacks are totally unemployed, unable to compete with low wage labor, the loss of two of their ethnic plantations might make the Dems think twice.  But the Republicans would still be cheering for it.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. beck needs to stfu and go back to where-ever. This not by any stretch the type of catastrophe(toronados, hurricanes, etc) that his organization usually goes in to help. If I had contributed anything to his group, I’d be askin’ for my money back.

  2. This will not break through to low-info voters until the wetbacks* bring in a mass terrorist attack and/or a pandemic of polio, resistant TB or the like.

*sorry, I just don’t feel that “illegal alien” is sufficiently disparaging.

    • mass terrorist attack…

      Um…

The Odd Book One Texas Rancher Found Near the Border | TheBlaze.com

While local ranchers have to contend with torn-up fences, broken water lines, contaminated wells and robbery on a daily basis from illegal immigrants streaming through, a Texas Border Patrol agent told TheBlaze there is “no doubt” that among the hordes of Central Americans are also crossers from Pakistan and Afghanistan, raising significant national security concerns.

“They know they can get in easier and they won’t be turned back home.”

“We have limited resources,” said the agent, who was not authorized to speak publicly. “It’s frustrating for all of us and there’s no doubt that we have OTMs [Other Than Mexicans] coming from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia and other parts of the world that we are very concerned with — these guys won’t be turning themselves into Border Patrol like the family units or children. I expect we’ll see more the OTMs of special interest this year and next, now that they know they can get in easier and they won’t be turned back home.”

Urdu, the national language of Pakistan, is also spoken in parts of Afghanistan and India. People coming from these parts of the world are considered persons of special interest because of their potential connections to extremist groups in those regions, the agent said.“We’ve found Korans, prayer rugs and many other unusual items at the border that certainly raise concern,” the agent said.

      Yeah.
