The problem arose when I attempted to copy/paste a small section for the first block quote of the article and received this popup.

I usually just turn off Javascript for that page.  Shuts that crap right up.  Then I copy whatever I need for my post.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

    • I also “view source” and grab the HTML I want. But then, I work on software so much that it’s second nature.

Turning off Javascript works sometimes, but it breaks so much in some modern web pages that they won’t even display their content without it.

As for that stupid copyright message, can’t the Javascript be smart enough to let a small section be copied but prevent copying all or most of the article? Have these people not heard of fair use? Do they not want any references to their content bringing in interested readers?
