Milbank: Losing the Senate could be just what Obama needs « Hot Air

It’s not a crazy idea at all. Sometimes a president can be forced into finding a path toward getting things done when faced with a unified block of opposition in the legislative branch. Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich seemed to find a way to make things work, at least for a time, and it’s now looked back on as one of the more productive and appreciated eras of federal government accomplishment in modern political history.

Good old Jizz.  Statist to the bone, the highest political good he can comprehend is a government that is productive, that gets things done.

I wonder how he’d feel about a productive government that got him locked up as a seditionist conservative?

After all, wouldn’t that be getting something done?

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. Oh me, oh my – kinda hard to figure out who’s the more effed-up here, Rethuglican-Elitist Jizz-Fer-Brains or Democrap-Obambam-Suckup Dim-Twitch-Dana…

    On the one hand:

Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich seemed to find a way to make things work, at least for a time, and it’s now looked back on as one of the more productive and appreciated damaging and invasive-by-bureaucrapcy eras of federal government accomplishment pointless interference in modern political history.

Fixed that right up for ya, there, Jizz-Brain, ya ol’ pinhead-Statist…Then, there’s:

There would be no more excuses for Republicans’ failure to put forward their own health-care plan, immigration proposals, specific cuts to popular government programs…

Umm…you mean, like – all that R-controlled-House stuff that’s been sitting on ol’ Hairy Weed’s “pocket veto”, ain’t-never-gonna-get-seen-in-the-Senate shit-heap since…oh…’bout mid-2012 to mid-2013 or so?

Kinda forgot about all that, dint’cha, Dana, ya butt-head?…Oh, and:

This would set up real clashes with Obama — who could employ the veto pen he hasn’t used a single time since Republicans gained control of the House in 2010…

Gee – but…wouldn’t that sorta-kinda make Barky into the “obstructionist roadblock”, the “prevention from getting things done”?…

Myself – I think I’d like to go with the statement by one of the commentors over at the linked item:

Losing the Senate could be just what Obama needs? Well, let’s give him what he needs then. I’m fine with that.

    – Works for me, yeah…

  2. They had control of the House, Senate, and the Presidency and did nothing to roll back Leviathan at all.

Tell me again why we need to elect Republicans to “oppose” the Democrats?
