Blacks to Thad Cochran: You owe us – Anna Palmer and Lauren French – POLITICO.com

Thad Cochran won a primary runoff by turning out the black vote. Now they are asking — what are you going to do for us?

Already the members of the Congressional Black Caucus are talking about what they want Cochran to do. The wish list is filling up with ideas like maintaining funding for food stamps, beefing up programs that help poor blacks in Mississippi and even supporting the Voting Rights Act.

Thanks, Gentry GOP!  You’ve created a Senator who is no longer beholden to his own (former) base, but to a group entirely inmical to almost all GOP principles.

Well, that would be the case if the Gentry GOP still had principles other than their own grasp on power.

Cochran is now completely debilitated.  If he lives long enough, look for him to step down about a year after election in favor of somebody not quite so hideously compromised.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
