We’re More Moral Than Them – Also, We’re Deader

Welcome to the Jihadi Spring | National Review Online

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came into office seeking an accord with the Taliban. But the Taliban won’t abandon its key objective: a total Islamist state. After the attacks, most observers think Sharif will have little choice but to unleash the army on the insurgents.

Think about this sentence for a moment.  Western reluctance to kill whom it needed to kill in order to achieve its own victory (and security) has acted to restrain the very people who know who needs killing the most.

We are faced with religiously fanatic barbarian savages.  They know who needs killing in order to achieve their own victory, and they don’t hesitate even one second in doing so.  We, on the other hand, think that by placing ourselves above such savagery is somehow a plus.  In other words, holding what some perceive as being the moral high ground is more important than killing the people who desperately want to kill us.

If you think that’s a recipe for victory and security, I hope you will immediately relocate to one of the Taliban or ISIS enclaves, so you can explain to them the error of their ways.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. ” In other words, holding what some perceive as being the moral high ground is more important than killing the people who desperately want to kill us.”

The key word in your sentence being “perceive”. The perception, as you well know, is wrong of course. By not killing murderous barbarians you just guarantee they will live to enslave and murder others, increasing the loss of life and savagery.

It really is simple: Kill the barbarians, give them no quarter, and the remainder will slink off to live their wretched lives away from us and those few who may actually value their freedom. After a few decades some will rise up again, repeat, and you get a few more decades of peace.

  2. The Roman generals on the border were more interested in marching into Italy and getting themselves declared Emperor. Soon they were hiring German warlords to guard the border since Romans had less use for fighting barbarians than fighting each other. Romanized German warlords soon began doing the same thing and getting themselves declared Emperor.

So every few months there was a new Emperor and the foxes were left to guard the henhouse. Soon after that, there was no Western Roman Empire and the Ages went Dark.

    Just sayin’
