The D.C. Stenographer Corps Seems to Be Quite Upset By the Cantor Loss

Why Cantor’s upset is bad news for Obama – The Week

So if you think Barack Obama has trouble dealing with House Republicans now, you haven’t seen anything yet. Not only is the GOP favored to pick up an additional five to eight House seats in November — adding to its 233-199 majority (there are three current vacancies) — it could also pick up four to eight more Senate seats. A gain of six would give the Republicans a majority. Believe it or not, the next Congress could be even more obstructionist than it is now.

From your mouth to God’s ear, leftist lackey.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

    • Abso-stootly –

“Obstructionist” could work…”deadlocked” or even “log-jammed” would be even better – but “obstructionist” could be a pretty good starting-point…

Then, mostly all we’d have to sweat for awhile would be “Weepy” Boner and his Greasy Old Party Elite Deal-Cutters – plus ol’ Barky Hussein and his Magickal Stroke-Of-Da-Pen-Law-Of-Da-Land Executive Ordure onslaught…Heark! Is that some additional anti-gun bullshit beginning to drivel out of the SCOAMF’s Executive ballpoint we hear?…

        • Half a loaf, though, depending on your perspective.

I’ll happily take “doesn’t grow government any more” as a starting point over “grows government.” The progs used incrementalism for a hundred years to get us here–let’s use it against THEM for a change.

          • Not seeing it, Rick. Here’s how it really works – the lefties do their incremental thing and move forward some way or other whenever they get power.

When the GOP is in control, it neither moves forward nor moves back. It’s stasis.

The progression is: step up, plateau. Step up, plateau. Step up, plateau.

If there is never a step back in that progression, you are dead.

Gridlock is a plateau stage. All it does is consolidate lefty gains. It’s not half a loaf. It’s burn the loaf to the ground.

  1. A gain of six would give the Republicans a majority. Believe it or not, the next Congress could be even more obstructionist than it is now.

The article’s author seems to be familiar with the Republicans’ tendencies; he says not that they would be obstructionists, but that they could be.

    Sounds about right to me.
