CBO Quietly Drops Forecast That Obamacare Will Cut the Deficit | The Fiscal Times

The CBO has consistently projected that President Obama’s overhaul will reduce the deficit, and the agency estimated that the Republicans’ 2011 effort to repeal the legislation would increase deficits by $210 billion from 2010 to 2021.

In April, the agency quietly signaled that it can no longer make that projection; that the law had been changed and delayed so much that there is no longer a credible way to estimate the long-term effects on the deficit of all elements of the program taken together.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. My guess would be they finally got tired of putting in hours and hours of (likely unpaid) overtime, trying to “massage” the data into spitting out numbers that sorta-kinda match up with the version of “reality” they’d like to believe in.

Either that, or their server took a dump, and they couldn’t find any way to “reconstruct” all those ups ‘n downs ‘n sideways their jiggery-pokery had already gone through.

Either way, it’s probably that “tangled-web-we-weave” shit coming home to roost – they’ve sighted the oncoming Anschluss, and are simply trying to steal quietly away – emphasis on the “steal” part there, of course…

Doesn’t matter, really, just what triggered it, now, does it?
