Ruger Race Gun Project: Finished!
Bill Quick

Ruger Mark III 22/45 set up with Volquartsen accurizer/trigger package, walnut target grips, TandemKross compensator and charging handle, an OKO 8MOA red dot reflex sight, and some basic mods to the gun itself – removed the magazine safety and modded the bolt release.

It took a while, but I finally got the thing done.  The Volquartsen trigger/accurizer package arrived, as well as the walnut target grips and the OKO red dot reflex sight.  I spent all day grinding down the permanent grips, then tapping the handle so I could make the new grips removable rather than simply gluing them on.

I’ve got a 2.25# trigger pull on it now, and according to all reports, the accurizer package should make this gun extremely reliable.

I got the scope with an 8MOA red dot:  At ten yards, it’s something like painting a bonfire on a target – and that’s about as far as I’ll be shooting in steel challenge anyway.

Now I just have to run 5000 rounds or so through it before I take it up to the Gunblogger Rendezvous.  I don’t want to embarrass myself too badly with a nice gun like this.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. Wicked-cool! (as a onetime British acquaintance was wont to state…)

Han Solo, eat your heart out.

Absolutely love those grips, that grain-striping is fantastic! Should shoot even better than it looks…

Well done, indeed – we shall all doubtless look forward to seeing what you are able to achieve, come Rendevous-time.
