Obama Team Crafts President’s Midterm-Election Pitch – WSJ.com

The White House is carving out a role for President Barack Obama in this fall’s midterm elections, which he will try to pose as a choice between the parties’ economic visions while targeting appeals to African-Americans, young voters and others in his coalition.

Well, this should be fun.

Message to African-Americans on the economy:  “Hello, my fellow African-Americans!  Since I took office, you have experienced many economic changes, in income and employment.  Here are some of them!”

Is Obama Good for Black Americans? | RealClearPolitics

Buried in a New York Times story about the economy was this arresting statistic: Median family income for black Americans has declined a whopping 10.9 percent during the Obama administration. It has declined for other groups as well — 3.6 percent for non-Hispanic whites and 4.5 percent for Hispanics – but the figure for blacks is huge. This decline does not include losses suffered during the financial crisis and the recession that followed, but it instead measures declines since June 2009, when the recession officially ended.

That’s not the only bad news for African-Americans. The poverty rate for blacks is now 25.8 percent. The black labor force participation rate, which rose throughout the 1980s and 1990s, has declined for the past decade and quite sharply under Obama to 61.4 percent. The black unemployment rate, according to Pew Research, stands at 13.4 percent. Among black, male, high school dropouts, PBS’ Paul Salmon reports, the unemployment rate is a staggering 95 percent.

What could possibly be better?  So if you want to continue these amazing changes in your condition, even better and harder, be sure to rush to the polls and vote for the Democrat of your choice!

Message to young people on the economy:  “Hello, fellow dependent-Americans!  Since I took office, you have experienced many economic changes, in income and employment.  Here are some of them!”

Youth Misery Index Skyrockets to All-Time High Under Obama

According to College Fix:

The index, released Wednesday, was calculated by adding youth unemployment and average college loan debt figures with each person’s share of the national debt. While it has steadily grown over the decades, under Obama the figure has shot up dramatically, from 83.5 in 2009 to 98.6 in 2013.

The index has increased by 18.1 percent since Obama took office, the highest increase under any president, making Obama the worst president for youth economic opportunity, according to the nonprofit that released the figure.

“Young people are suffering under this economy,” said Ashley Pratte, program officer for Young America’s Foundation, which developed the index and calculates it annually using federal statistics. “They’re still living in their parent’s basements, unable to find full-time jobs that pay them what they need in order to pay back their debt.”

Youth unemployment in 2013 was 16.3 percent, and student loan debt came in at a record-breaking average of $29,400 last year, the foundation points out; what’s more, each person’s share of the roughly $17 trillion dollar national debt stands at its highest level ever: $52,948.

What could possibly be better?  So if you want to continue these amazing changes in your condition, even better and harder, be sure to rush to the polls and vote for the Democrat of your choice!

Obama is putting all his marbles on the suicidal stupidity of the members of his coalition.  And why not?    As H.L. Mencken once so succinctly put it, “Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”  To which I would add, especially Democrats.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
