Tax Day Tax Revenue Set All-Time Record | CNS News

(CNSNews.com) – Inflation-adjusted federal tax revenues hit an all-time record of $1,428,710,000,000 from the beginning of the fiscal year on Oct. 1 through April 15, the deadline for filing federal tax returns for 2013, according to the Daily Treasury Statement.

And we spent how much last year?  Oh, that’s right:   $3,454,000,000,000.

How long would your household go on, if it were spending about 2 1/2 times as much as it was taking in?

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. Well, if I had a nice, fat Chinese line of credit like the one Barky and the Beltway Bombers are still dining on, who knows?…

Fun, fun, fun, till Big-Daddy Furrin’-Creditors take the Plastic-Fantastic Money Cards away, cut ‘em up an’ tell ya, “Go Fish…”

  2. To be fair there, the revenues were inflation adjusted and the expenditures were nominal.

So we’ve been spending between 1.3x to 1.6x revenues for at least 7 years now and in excess of 1.2x revenues for at least 11 years now.

So your comment is valid regardless. What can’t go on won’t, but until dose furriners do take a scissor to the plastic fantastic card, it seems certain it will.
