ConsumerWatch: Some Covered California Patients Say They Can’t See A Doctor « CBS San Francisco

MOUNTAIN VIEW (KPIX 5) – While open enrollment for coverage under the Affordable Care Act is closed, many of the newly insured are finding they can’t find doctors, landing them into a state described as “medical homelessness.”

Rotacare, a free clinic for the uninsured in Mountain View, is dealing with the problem firsthand.

Mirella Nguyen works at the clinic said staffers dutifully helped uninsured clients sign up for Obamacare so they would no longer need the free clinic.

But months later, the clinic’s former patients are coming back to the clinic begging for help. “They’re coming back to us now and saying I can’t find a doctor, “said Nguyen.

Yeah, and i’ll bet every damned one of them voted for Obama – twice.  So enjoy your “free” health care, chumps.  Good and hard.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. Do these “medical homeless” still pay their premiums despite getting no coverage?

This isn’t exactly a new problem, by the way. Just because you had Blue Cross or whatever insurance doesn’t mean you were able to find a primary care doctor who was accepting new patients. However, just because it isn’t a new problem doesn’t mean that Obamacare isn’t responsible for making it worse, what with more and more doctors getting out of the biz as it’s been run for the past few decades.

      • And today, the news is that half the people who signed up for Obamacare in Georgia haven’t paid a premium yet. That’s 100K signups covering 150K people.

That’s probably a high proportion, but remember this when you hear “as of this weekend 8 million people have signed up.” Also remember that many of them are on Medicare or had insurance Obamacare deemed insufficiently costly.

  2. Silly fools that they are, it appears that they somehow believed that, just because it’s “officially” labelled the “Affordable Care Act”, that meant that it would be affordable, that they would get care under it, and that someone – somewhere – sometime would act in a way that made either of those things come true…welcome to FedGov Reality, Progtard asshats.
