‘Liberty Tax’: White House, Media Attack After Drudge Pays Obamacare Opt-Out Penalty

A White House aide set off a stampede of liberal media criticism for Internet news pioneer Matt Drudge over Obamacare – but his critics don’t seem to understand how small businesses pay taxes.

The brouhaha started when Drudge tweeted, “Just paid the Obamacare penalty for not ‘getting covered’… I’M CALLING IT A LIBERTY TAX.”

Why would you expect the Obamorons who love Obamacare to understand anything whatsoever about any business, large or small?  None of them have ever run a business of any size in their entire lives.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. Yah, I and a few of my self-employed or small-business-owning acquaintances don’t have a whole lot of respect for the chattering class right at the moment. Less than before, that is.

    One guy who is now paying a 3.5% (IIRC) surcharge tax* on the health insurance premiums he pays for his employees is especially not loving the yammerers or Obamao right now. That couple hundred dollars is not enough itself to make him drop coverage for his employees, but the expected premium jumps on top of the jumps he’s already had to eat will probably do it. He can’t pay the insurance costs and stay in business. (I’ll point out that though he mostly seems to have his head on straight, he’s in favor of a single-payer system as the only rational way to solve the health insurance problems in this country. Because, I guess, it’s been such a conspicuous success everywhere it’s been implemented.)

    * Fuck you, John Roberts.

  2. My mom and I used to own a small restaurant together. Kind of glad that we don’t now because I’d be pilloried for saying I had just paid my Obamacare tax.

    Let’s stop referring to the MFM as biased. They are not biased. They are corrupt.
