Illinois’ first concealed carry licenses in the mail — 5,000 of them –

To ensure that the applications are not denied unjustly, Gov. Pat Quinn has appointed a seven-member panel of federal prosecutors, FBI agents and judges to review objections raised by law enforcement.

The board has 30 days to review the rejected applications.

Judges, prosecurtors, and federal cops – the very people who loathe the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment.  That should provide a fair and unbiased review process.

That’s like appointing the officers of the local Ku Klux Klan to review black voting applications.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. When I lived in Schenectady, NY, the police whitewash board (whatever it was officially called) had, IIRC, seven people: police union reps; police “officer” reps; a rep from the mayor’s office; and two “community” reps, one of whom had a relative on the SPD and one of whom’s business was mainly with the city. (I’m sure I got the details wrong, but the gist is correct.) It may surprise you to find that SPD had a horrendous problem with police brutality and other misconduct, to the tune of millions a year in settlements and awards. In a city of 60,000.
