Let me take that a little bit further:  Absent ripping the current Ruling Class and its Ruling Party out by the roots, ubiquitous surveillance of everything is in your future – sooner, rather than later.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

Why? Because They Can. And So They Will. — 3 Comments

  1. The main reason it will be back is that the Ruling Class has learned something: there is no penalty for pushing beyond what is legal, reasonable, necessary, desirable, or whatever. None. No one ever suffers from floating stuff like this, or like the FCC news survey, or the various EPA overreaches, etc. ad nauseum.

So they can just push until there is pushback, retreat temporarily, disguise their effort better, and be more stealthy the next time they attempt to do it. Eventually they will get all or most of what they want.

There’s a reason no one every gets punished. In the minds of the Ruling Class, they are doing good. Their actions are virtuous. That’s why they never punish each other. Any particularly member of the Ruling Class understands and approves of power grabs by other members, because they all think gaining power over the common folk is good and necessary. They are all playing the same game and covering for each other whenever needed.

And Bill is right. Absent ripping them out by the roots, it will never stop. They like what they are doing, they think is the right thing to do, there are no significant negative consequences, and there are enormous benefits to them personally for doing it.

  2. And because of their arrogance, I have a bad feeling that sooner rather than later voting from the rooftops will become a reality as opposed to a slogan.
I am truely amazed that fed people in northern california haven’t started dying over the fed’s massive farm destruction policy up there, Bill.
