Shocker: Cass Sunstein Is Positively Wrong

Like Sunstein said: liberty depends on taxes.

Which is gibberish, of course, and no surprise, considering the source is Cass Sunstein, one of the most disordered thinkers among our sadly dilapidated public intellectuals.

In order to arrive at this astonishing conclusion, Sunstein must perforce twist the definition of liberty understood by our Founders and Framers – a freedom from – into an entitlement – a freedom to (loot the wealth of others for your own purposes and desires).

What I’d really like to do is tie petty tyrants like Sunstein to the whipping post and apply the lash liberally, while instructing him that I am only acting as a surrogate of the state in collecting from him, by force if necessary, his wealth, to which I am entitled by my liberties.

He, of course, has no liberty from the lash.  Because such liberty really isn’t freedom – not in his world of positive rights.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
