For Democrats looking to post-Obama era, how populist a future? – The Washington Post

Though more united than Republicans, Democrats nevertheless face simmering tensions between the establishment and a newly energized populist wing, led by the unabashed liberalism of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and the fiery rhetoric of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

The schisms are as much stylistic as substantive. But however defined, they offer a challenge to the party’s next leader, whether former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden or any number of lesser-knowns who await a decision by Clinton before making their own.

Slobber over this collection of clowns, hacks and losers all you want, Balz.  They’re still clowns, hacks, and losers.  And you’re stuck with them.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. One of my fondest hopes for the near-term future in National-level politickin’ in North America is that, somehow, the vast majority of the potential electorate will come to view Elizabeth Warren as the whacko potential-bomb-thrower politicoterrorist and exemplar of the essentially nut-ball nature of Massholechusetts politickin’ she so clearly is, for anyone who takes the time and effort to really take a close look at her. After Nanny Pee-lousy and Das Hillarybeest, I’d rate Warren as having the next-greatest potential for terminal damage/destruction to both the Democrap Party in particular and the U.S. in general.

She’s a “populist” like The Obamanation is a “moderate” – and like I’m a Polar bear.

Personal mad-dog whackiness coupled with political ambition is always a bad, dangerous combination – in a Senator, it’s a formula for disaster of major proportions.
