Why Is Twitter So Popular?

Because it’s a frickin’ PITA to write long-form on a smartphone or tablet – anything with a virtual keyboard, really.

Think of Twitter as mass texting, and you’ve pretty much got it.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. While not meaning to disagree, have you tried Swype? It’s a LOT faster than actual typing, I think, and your Note II has it built-in.

Also, I really like the voice recognition, at least for a sentence or so at a time. It’s not exactly faster than typing, but it’s easier, as long as you are willing to look weird if you’re in public.
