It also represented a public rebuke of the Tea Party wing by Republican Party elders in what has been a sometimes fierce intramural struggle.
Timesian spin. Not a single Tea Party paladin voted for this atrocity in the Senate. In fact, nearly three quarters of Senate Republicans (including two from the “leadership””) voted against McConnell, who is now, with this travesty, officially on political life support.
The problem at the moment is that the Tea Party, and those who fear it enough to submit to its dictates, only control about 3/4 of 1/2 of one branch.
We’re going to need to change that this fall, starting with the GOP “leadership,” especially Boehner and McConnell.
