This Fall We Can Start to Heal Our Dysfunctional Political Class…By Retiring a Bunch of Them

Boehner might not have the votes for a “clean” debt-ceiling hike either « Hot Air

If the party’s resolved not to risk a ferocious public backlash by driving a hard bargain on a meaningful proposal to cut spending and then standing firm as the debt limit is reached, why bother demanding anything? Just let Democrats and a few dozen fidgety centrist Republicans pass a clean hike and be done with it.

As far as I’m concerned, our federal politics is a dead loss on both sides of the aisle (with the occasional exception).  That given, it’s better to let them do whatever insanity that rings their dingdong, rather than waste energy on futile attempts to stop them right now.

We need to concentrate our efforts on the fall elections, with the goal of putting a lot of the most egregious wastes of political skin out to pasture, starting with Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader McConnell as Jobs One and Two.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
