Shaking Up the WaPo Over the Second Amendment

A CIVIL RIGHTS VICTORY: Second Amendment applies to carrying guns in cars. “So say two of the three judges on an Ohio Court of Appeals panel, in State v. Shover (Ohio Ct. App. Feb. 5, 2014) (Carr, J., concurring in the judgment, with Hensal, J., agreeing on this score) (some paragraph breaks added) — and generally quite correctly, it seems to me.”

The link Glenn cites is to a Volokh post in the Washington Post.  Of some interest there is the tone and tenor of the comments to the piece.  Rather than being monolithically leftist and anti-gun in nature, they are about equally split – and the supporters of the Second are giving as good as they are getting.  Better, in fact.

This is something of a change for the WaPo, and certainly more than welcome.  Legislators reading the paper must be surprised to find these heretical beliefs intruding on their cozy bubble.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
