Colin Powell: ‘Elements’ in GOP ‘Demonize People Who Don’t Look Like the Way They’d Like’ | Mediaite

Appearing on MSNBC, former Secretary of State Colin Powell savaged the Republican Party of which he says he is still a member for catering to “elements” that are overtly hostile to people of other races or nationalities. Powell told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that there are groups within the GOP who “demonize people who don’t look like the way they’d like them to look.” He added that, for this reason, he believes the GOP needs him more than the Democratic Party needs him.

Colin, you pathetic, incompetent, racist dick:  You may think the party needs you, but I doubt the party feels the same way.  Anyway, you look like a Democrat, you talk like a Democrat, and you vote like a Democrat.  Why should anybody take your word that you’re a Republican?

Bushbots will doubtless take issue with the title of this post, and I have myself in the past acknowledged that GWB probably wouldn’t have beaten Al Gore without Powell’s support (purchased in exchange for promising to make him Secretary of State – Colin is nothing if not looking out for number one in every possible way), but GWB gave him throw weight all out of proportion to his actual gravitas.  That it was necessary in order for Bush to get elected doesn’t erase the fact that Colin Powell is another Bush disaster.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
