Memo to the GOP: Become the Workers’ Party | National Review Online

The Obama administration’s response to the Congressional Budget Office’s prediction that Obamacare will cause 2.5 million fewer Americans to work in the coming years is an opportunity for Republicans to seize the moral high ground on the issue of work.

Not gonna happen.  Not, at least, as long as the Gentry running the GOP think that the way to become a “workers party” is to bid just a bit less than the Democrats in the government giveaway contest.

None of the current leadership would consider that the way to become the party of American workers would be to get the all-powerful, all-intrusive state off their backs, out of their pockets, out of their bedrooms, and out of their way.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
