Sony exits the North American ebook business and gives its customers to Kobo — Tech News and Analysis

Sony is getting out of the ebook business in the United States and Canada, and turning its customers (there aren’t many of them at this point) over to Kobo.

The first eBook gadget I ever bought was the Sony Reader – even before my first Kindle.  I still have it.  It seems hopelessly heavy, clunky, and archaic now, but at the time it was obvious that it was the future.

Now Sony is moving on – rumors are that it will also in large part exit the personal computer business in favor of mobile.  Maybe if I hang on to my original Sony Reader long enough, it will become a valuable antique I can peddle on eBay,

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
