102-year-old cyclist sets world record – SFGate

French cyclist Robert Marchand, aged 102, celebrates with fans after beating his record for distance cycled in one hour, at the velodrome of Saint-Quentin en Yvelines, outside Paris, Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. The 102-year-old broke his own world record in the over-100s category Friday, riding 26.927 kilometers (16.7 miles) in one hour, more than 2.5 kilometers better than his previous best time in the race against the clock two years ago.

I’m not entirely sure I could best that speed in an indoor time trial if I took a crack at it today.  I need to start working harder.

I hope to hell I’m in as good a shape as this guy when I hit his age.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
