The top opener of the long weekend was The Wolf of Wall Street, the Paramount picture is basically playing like Ali. Like the Michael Mann-helmed biopic in 2001, this Martin Scorsese film came plowing out of the gate on Christmas day with $10.2 million, only to peak on opening day and end up with under 3.5x that first-day gross ($34m) and a final gross under 6x its opening day ($58m). Wolf of Wall Street grossed $18.5m weekend and $34.3m for the holiday debut (3.7x its Christmas day debut).
Looks like this chunk of rancid Scorsese click-bait is tanking. I’m not surprised. Everything I heard about this flick sounded repellant.
