Long-Lasting Erections Linked to Certain ADHD Medications – MPR

The FDA is warning the public that methylphenidate products may cause priapism.

Priapism is a prolonged and sometimes painful erection. Methylphenidate is a type of central nervous system stimulant used to treat attention hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Affected drugs include: Concerta (Janssen), Daytrana, Focalin/Focalin XR (Novartis), Metadate CD/Metadate ER (UCB), Methylin/Methylin ER (Shionogi), Quillivant XR (Pfizer), and Ritalin/Ritalin LA/Ritalin SR (Novartis).

Remember, they are primarily feeding this crap to school-age boys. Just what we need – more young males with permanent hard-ons.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. Not to mention, having simultaneously received a booster-pop of “Central Nervous System stimulant” – what could possibly go wrong with that?

Fortunately, Li’l Obambam and the Inside-The-Beltway Bumblers have arranged for “free” contraception supplies – now, to get them to actually use all those taxpayer-supplied rubbers and the like…

(Might help out the medical profession a bit, as well – due to the age of the folks involved, one might expect to see somewhat of a surge in the need for treatment of STDs, yes?)

  2. Apropos of nothing, in my pharmacologist active past, I provided a friend with a Ritalin tablet (or maybe it was meth, who remembers these things,) anyway, so he could drive all night. We needed to be in the Bay Area in the morning. He was a 20-something adult ADHD-type guy. It was a good thing that I was in the front seat with him. 20 minutes after he took the pill, he fell sound asleep. I had to steer the car to avoid one bridge abutment while shaking him awake. Needless to say, I drove the rest of the way, and my adrenaline was high enough to keep me awake for quite awhile.
