In one Facebook post, Pierson attacks the philosophies of economist Adam Smith who through his invisible hand theory pushed the notion that the free market was self-regulating. In another post, he describes himself as “Keynesian.”
“…I was wondering to all the neoclassicals and neoliberals, why isn’t the market correcting itself?” he wrote. “If the invisible hand is so strong, shouldn’t it be able to overpower regulations?”
Pierson also appears to mock Republicans on another Facebook post, writing “you republicans are so cute” and posting an image that reads: “The Republican Party: Health Care: Let ‘em Die, Climate Change: Let ‘em Die, Gun Violence: Let ‘em Die, Women’s Rights: Let ‘em Die, More War: Let ‘em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?”
Okay, so this punk killer was a progart whackjob. Why do I suspect this aspect – in fact, this entire incident – won’t be much played up by the left-sucking media?
UPDATE: Apparently the Denver Post is changing the narrative:
Let’s read some more.
Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with [the shooter] Pierson, described him as a very opinionated Socialist*.
* Wordy Girl notes that the Denver Post has now stealth-edited out the S-word.
I’m watching the heavy-breathing reporting on local TV at the moment, and there is not one single mention of the shooter’s far left wing political beliefs, although his religious nature is mentioned often. The usual shots of weeping female students are also featured.
I’ve reached out to the Denver Post for an explanation of their air-brushing of the word “Socialist,” as well as to the student who gave them that information. I’ll add to this with any responses I get.
UPDATE: I haven’t gotten any responses yet, but a Denver Post editor did tweet on the matter:
@Whatwesettlefor We decided not to have another student apply a label to the shooter — a label the student likely didn’t even understand ..
As Ace points out, though, these hacks had no problems describing him as a Keynesian, though, which I doubt they understand, either..
