Tim Cook mocks competitors’ tablet strategy
Coming out swinging at the iPad 5 launch, Apple CEO Tim Cook knocked competitors for what he said was a flawed tablet strategy.
“Our competitors chased netbooks,” said Cook. “Now they’re busy making PCs into tablets and tablets into PCs,” he added, in reference to hybrid tablet and what Intel is calling 2-in-1 portables.
“Competitors are confused,” he said. “We believe deeply in this category and we’re not slowing down on our innovation.”
Here, let me translate that for you:
“Our iPads are toys. We like them that way, and think you do, too, and we intend to keep them that way. Even if these much more capable hybrids do scare us a little bit.”
