So, were we out of better options? I think so. To my mind, if the defund plan was delusional, the GOP establishment’s “repeal Obamacare by winning elections” alternative is delusional squared.
It’s worse. Those who advocate it are planning to use opposition to Obamacare as a strategy with which to win electoral victories.
But here’s the catch: If they repeal Obamacare, then they can’t run against it afterwards.
Just as the anti-poverty crowd can’t elimminate poverty without eliminating its own reason for existence.
Here is another of Quick’s Iron Laws: Any organization, bureaucracy, or other structure created to combat some perceived problem will end up perpetuating it as a necessary factor to its own continued existence.
Now apply that Iron Law to the supposed anti-statist GOP today.
