“Syria’s biological warfare programs are latent, highly compartmentalized, and dual use, run under both legitimate and clandestine programs, laboratories, institutes, and facilities,” the report states. “The fact that this looting took place in the Aleppo area where the rebellion—and in particular Al Nusrah—is very strong tends to confirm that AQ may potentially be in possession of biological agents.”
Guitta and van Aalst go on to warn that Assad’s supply of biological weapons are just as dangerous as his chemical arms, particularly if they fall into the hands of terrorist forces.
Something like weaponized smallpox is considerably more dangerous than chemical weapons. In fact, just tiny amounts of such things pose an existential threat to the United States and, in fact, the entire Western world.
And the combination of weaponized contagious pathogens with Islamic jihadi fanaticism is the most dangerous conceivable mix, because of Islam’s essential fatalism – “Whatever Allah wills.”
Sane people could worry that unleashing such deadly agents might wreak havoc on their own peoples, but Muslim fanatics don’t think that way. They would regard such weapons as gifts from Allah intended for their use against the enemies of Islam, and whatever happens after they are used would be the will of Allah, and not to be gainsaid.
For a quick and nasty taste of the possibilities here, revisit Dark Winter. Basically, the same government that has done such a great job with the Obamacare infrastructure is telling you not to worry, be happy, they have everything under control.
And if they’re wrong, you die.
