“We think that there was some confusion in the market last year on the difference between Surface RT and Surface Pro,” said Cowett. “We want to help make it easier for people, and these are two different products designed for two different people.”
Microsoft has since dropped the ‘RT’ for its latest Windows RT tablet, with the tablets now simply called Surface and Surface Pro.
Well, that should clear the confusion right up, don’t you think? I mean “Surface,” versus “Surface Pro.” How could anybody be confused by that?
Paul Thurrot, longtime writer about all things Windows, had this to say about the latest ad for these machines:
It’s about time. But I have some concerns about the misleading nature of this ad as well.
Paul is polite.
My own take was that the ad not only was deliberately confusing, it was outright dishonest.
The ‘Softies know that RT is a dog. That’s why they’re trying to blur its deficiencies by mixing it up with the much more powerful Surface Pro running full Windows.
