So I finally got in to see the podiatrist yesterday, and discovered that the reason my left big toe hurt so much was that I had an infected, abcessed, deeply ingrown toenail.
All I knew was that it was ugly and hurt a lot, especially when I rode my bike.
So the doc cut out the offending parts, gave me a prescription for Vicodin, and sent me home with instructions to keep the foot elevated for a couple of days, soak it in salt water, and pack the wound with antibiotic ointment and bandage it twice a day.
Which I’m doing. So I’m in a codeine haze, with a sore toe propped up on a pillow on a Noguchi coffee table, and not feeling all that much like dipping into the repulsive cess pool that is current events.
Any other editors so inclined, once more unto the breach, dear friends, and have at it.
