The Texas senator’s futile crusade against Obamacare has been labeled a ‘kamikaze’ mission. But a principled defeat today could lead to victory in 2016, writes David Frum.
Much as I hate to say it – and if Cruz really does look as if he’s gaining traction as the leader of the conservative movement in the GOP, I expect Frum will be front and center opposing him – but it does seem as if Frum actually gets what Cruz is doing here.
It’s called preparing the battlespace. In fact, Cruz is preparing multiple battlespaces. He’s forcing the Ruling Party RINOs to self-identify, and to paint large targets on their chests, making them ripe for future primary challenges, starting as soon as next year.
He’s preparing the battlespace for himself to premptively move to the head of the line in the 2015 primaries, and putting not only Ruling Party candidates like Christie and Jeb Bush in the crosshairs, but the whole gang of limp, lame Democrat candidates like Hillary/BJ, Shotgun Joe Biden, and the rest of that insane clown posse.
I suspect that he is also going to have something to say about Mark Levin’s plan to call a state convention for the purpose of amending the Constitution.
They called Reagan stupid until he kicked their asses bloody twice – GOP establishment and Democrats alike.
They’re trying to paint Cruz as stupid. I’m going to enjoy watching him cram their smears down their throat. And their tyrannical Obamacare scheme as well, if not this time around, then down the road after he leads the #TeaPartyTakeover of congress in 2014, and the White House in 2016.
