Scientists Have Detected Massive, Unexplained Deep Space Explosions

And though it’s our first time hearing bangs from so far away, it’s probably not that uncommon; there’s just only so much of the sky you can listen to with satellites. Scientists have extrapolated that we’re missing some 10,000 similar bangs every day. If the aliens ever decide to say “hi,” let’s hope we get lucky and actually hear it.

Maybe we just did.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. The origin is so far away, at least we can be sure they’re not a response to our early radio broadcasting. Closer than 90 light years away, we might be in trouble. If they’re an alien response from less than 60 light years away, we might be in REAL trouble – they’ve received the audio and video of Milton Berle in drag by now.
