NRA gains upper hand on Obama – The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room

The powerful gun lobbying group had stumbled in the immediate wake of December’s Newtown, Conn., grade-school massacre, launching a blistering attack on opponents that alienated even some NRA supporters and upped the odds of Obama moving tougher gun laws through Congress.

But three months later, the NRA has regained its footing, rallying gun owners and lawmakers against new gun controls in a fierce lobbying effort that appears to be paying dividends on Capitol Hill.

Actually, this is a lie – not a rare occurrence considering the source is Dem propaganda mill The Hill.

The NRA’s “stumble” (see The Hill’s own link), consisted of pointing out that armed guards in schools able to oppose maniacal shooters with deadly force, were possibly the most effective method of preventing such atrocities. As it turned out, the result of this supposed “stumble” was that 64% of Americans agreed with the NRA on that issue. Some “stumble.”

Now that the hysteria ginned up by the Dems has somewhat died down, despite hack propaganda spewing from rags like The HillI, folks are taking a long, hard look at the illogical, irrational, and ineffective proposals to grab various sorts of ugly guns and ugly magazine, as well as to institute a regimen of universal firearms registration which many rightly fear is only a prelude to further efforts at gun bans and confiscations.

These people are voting with their feet and their wallets as they proceed to strip gun sellers of just about everything they have in stock, are joining and contributing to the NRA and other gun rights groups in record numbers, and leading campaigns of outright defiance of state level gun grabs.

The Hill and other nests of leftist hackery don’t much like this, so they are lying about it.  Because dishonesty is really all they have left.  They’ve figured out they’re probably going to take a whipping this time around, despite having convinced themselves, against all legitimate evidence, that this time they could really, really, really get an effective gun ban instituted in America, in defiance of the constitution, liberty, and the will of the people themselves.

So now they’re going to try to blame the so-called “gun lobby,” in the face of the fact that that “lobby” would be powerless without the support of millions and millions of Americans who agree with it.

Good luck with that, fucktards.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. The media have good reason to believe that the low-info "voters" wait to be told what something is and that description need not be connected or related to anything else in the world. That is, the MSM can report Obama's recent proposal is similar to what polls show the voters want, whether polls have been taken, the results show agreement between sentiment and the proposal, or even if Obama has made a proposal.

Even many of Obama's vocal opponents wait to be told things are bad enough to warrant some response, no matter that they have been saying "if X becomes law I'll do Y." Until someone on their side (talk radio or politician) tells them "it is time to make your maximum angry response" they don't.

I've heard supposedly responsible adults say things like "I'm not a Marxist, I just want to take some from those that have and give to those that need." The fact, that is the very definition of Marxism isn't relevant because statements no longer seem connected to their content.

  2. We need one of those books patterned after the “You might be a Redneck if…” books by Jeff Foxworthy.

“You might be a Marxist if…”

Unfortunately, they’d probably never recognize themselves in it anyway.

  3. …now they’re going to try to blame the so-called “gun lobby,”…

Hey, y'know what? In straight-out terms, I don't really give a skinny rat's ass who or what they "blame" – just as long as their asinine, ineffective-for-any-but-gun-grabber-purposes, clearly-unConstitutional "safety measures" fail to pass Congross and/or otherwise become "law of the land".

They want to scream, and cry, and wail, and moan about "those awful, nasty, disgustingly-unprintable gunlovin' bastards", fine, let 'em – after their crap measures are roundly defeated!!!

    By any means necessary…

The name-calling never bothered me before – it won't bother me in future – so long as they don't manage to get any of their Universal Background Check bullshit, or any of their other pointless-except-to-infringe-upon-rights bullshit, made into law

Let 'em holler – just don't let 'em have what they want otherwise.

That is – unless what they want is open civil warfare. THAT, they can have, if it comes down to it.
