Poll shows 61 percent of Californians back gay marriage | Reuters

(Reuters) – California voters favor same-sex marriage by a nearly 2-to-1 margin, a poll showed on Thursday, a month before the U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear arguments over a gay marriage ban approved by the state’s residents in 2008.

The Field Poll found 61 percent of surveyed voters in California believe gay and lesbian couples should be allowed to wed, the highest level of support the organization has ever found on that question in the state.

Yeah, well, Californians supported gay marriage by a 50-42% spread shortly before they passed Proposition 8 banning it.

Not to say that I doubt that support for gay marriage has gone up in California, especially since King Barry has decreed that all right-thinking progressives must now support it.

Yes, that’s exactly how it works out here in the Dying State. If King Barry suggested that progressives should stick their heads up their own asses, California would be inundated with skull-sized condoms.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
