Obama Admin Warns Sequester Could Hinder Gun Control…

The Obama administration has told Congress that every FBI employee would be furloughed for 14 workdays and nearly $60 million would be cut from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, putting a dent in the government’s ability to investigate and prosecute gun crimes stage another Waco and sell weapons to Mexican cartels — a top priority in the wake of the December school shootings in Connecticut destroying the USA.

Edited to bring it closer to reality.

The cuts would also hit the national instant criminal background check system (NICS) for gun purchases, leading to a backlog that could allow criminals to slip though the system, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III wrote to Congress earlier this month.

Because as we all know the computerized system paid for by the fees charged would immediately crash.

The Justice Department also says that with a cut of nearly $100 million to prosecutors’ offices across the country, U.S. attorneys won’t be able to handle botch or ignore as many cases.

FIFT.

David Chipman, a former ATF agent who now works with the gun-control advocacy group Mayors Against Illegal Guns, said the agency doesn’t have extra agents to spare, and said the impact of any cuts would be felt.

“There are twice as many gun dealers as there are post offices, and the ATF is an agency that’s smaller than the Broward County [Fla.] sheriff’s office,” Mr. Chipman said.

I’d say that Broward County should trim the Sheriff’s office.

They said there were more than 76,000 background check denials in 2010. But of those, about 4,700 were referred to field offices for investigation, resulting in just 62 prosecutions.

Doesn’t look like much enforcement going on.
Looks like 75,938 people were wrongfully kept from purchasing firearms.

    • Good point, but the conservatives take great pride in following rules, and the RINO/Mayberry wing of the GOP will be busy creating or spreading explanations of why giving in to the monster today will give us increased power and flexibility for some future fight. As long as Obama doesn’t announce on MSM “I am today waging war on everything worth keeping in the country.” there will be enough doubt about any foul plan for the coward wing of the GOP to avoid resistance and the commielibs will support the plan because they think they won’t be harmed.

I’m seeing that many people hold onto a fantasy of some future resistance which allows them to continue to cooperate with the monster. You don’t practice for a marathon by sitting on the couch and saving energy. You get up and run. Our side as done precious little to resist and shows no sign of getting more active in the future. At some point it’s reasonable to expect the passive people will remain passive. Conservatives won’t even fight the weakest House Speaker of my life. Why would anyone expect they will call out the civilian militia?

  1. Study Mao’s China. Systematic brainwashing and torture of people so that not accusing “capitalist running dogs” of “hoarding” became a crime in and of itself. So eventually neighbors snitched on neighbors who had saved a few gallons of cooking oil just so that the neighbor would be arrested and their cooking oil seized and redistributed. Class warfare writ down to the microeconomic level. Mao either read Lord of the Flies or anticipated it. All against all with the State as the final arbiter and executioner and with Mao in control of the State. The ultimate power trip: holding life and death over one billion people.
