Assault gun ban: Not that science and facts will stop the left from pushing for it | Questions and Observations

Science and facts dont stand a chance against myth and ideology:

Justice Department researchers have concluded that an assault weapons ban is “unlikely to have an effect on gun violence,” but President Obama has not accepted their report as his administration’s official position.

It doesn’t fit the narrative. And, obliquely, it recognizes that the part of gun control that matters to the liberal fascist Obama administration is the control, not the guns.

There’s a reason for the desire for this ban. It’s a foot in the door. And, once they declare it’s not enough, the precedent is already set. As I mentioned on the podcast, the left is into incrementalism. They will incrementally sneak up on every freedom we have left.

Will sneak up? That’s what they have been doing (and, over time, quite effectively so) for the past hundred years.

And while the slowly-boiled frog squeaks in anger and pain every once in a while, most of that amphibian is cooked about medium well these days.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. I remember a group that tried to test the boiling frog theory and found that as soon as the frogs detected the water warming through their dangling feet, they jumped out of the pot. The frogs obviously didn’t fit the profile of the American electorate. I don’t think the average gun owner fits that profile either, so I’m wondering when gun owners decide to jump out the pot too. Depending on what form it takes, that jump may astonish the gun grabbers.
